At this time official adoption is scheduled for September, 2012. It’s important to keep in mind that these maps are still preliminary to allow time for municipal review and public comment. These maps, also known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), are used to determine the need for property owners to carry flood insurance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released updated preliminary flood hazard maps that show whether properties are in high, moderate or low risk of flooding. Please download this document to learn what information you must provide to appeal the determination made by FEMA. ![]() Any appeal must be submitted to the Township Manager’s Office by July 15, 2011. ![]() If you believe that your property is incorrectly located in a flood zone by the proposed new maps, you may submit an appeal.
